Larry David Dishner,75, of Kingsport, departed this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the morning of March 26, 2024.He was born July 18, 1948, to the late Donald Dishner and Ruth Giles Dishner and grew up in Duffield, Virginia.He was a graduate of Rye Cove High School and was employed by Eastman Kodak for 19 years.After retiring he started his own construction business and worked alongside many skilled workers to build several houses in Kingsport and the surrounding area. He took pride in his work and always kept a clean worksite.He was a former member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served on several committees and as a deacon until his health declined.Larry loved working with his hands, especially by taking care of his yard and planting flowers. He also loved giving flowers at Easter and Christmas to his wife, mother, sisters, and special aunts. Most of all, Larry loved his family. He was so proud of his sons and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed for his loving, giving, and gentle spirit.Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ruth Dishner; his brother, Phillip Dishner; and several aunts and uncles.He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sandra Nelms Dishner; sons, Scott and his wife, Angie, and Brandon and his wife, Erin; five grandchildren, Leigha Frantzen, Madi Dishner, Cooper Dishner, Tyson Dishner and Beckham Dishner; two great- grandchildren, Gabriela Giger and Guliana Giger; brother, Ricky Dishner; two sisters, Fleda Kern and husband, Toddy and Teresa Ladd and husband, Ron; sister-in-law, Carolyn Dishner; as well as a special sister- in- law, Joyce Meade; and many special nieces and nephews.Receiving of friends will be in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Monday, April 1, 2024.A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.
