Nina was a special friend from church. I have many fond memories of her, and I have known her most of my life. She spoke highly of her family, and I always enjoyed hearing about her trips. Nina was very creative, and I still have the pastel colored cross and red cross that she later made for me. I especially appreciate her being there for me after God called my late husband Delmer, who was in the Navy, home, and I moved back to Kingsport. My prayer is that God will comfort her loved ones. Knowing her was a blessing.

I knew Nina my entire life. You could bank on what Nina said as being the truth to the best of her knowledge. At one time there was 21 boys on the street where we lived plus Nina. Nina's mother would only let Nina come to our house alone. Her father was a charter member of LGBC along with my mother so there was a bond among our families. Nina had a gift for laughter and I would giggle at the drop of a hat. It made Nina happy for me to seek her out in church to give her a hug and kiss. Nina would tell my wife if that made her mad, she would just have to get use to it because she had me first. I always thought that Nina got stars in her crown because of the way she took care of her mother and then her father. Nina, I'll miss you but I'll see you again. May God's grace and mercy shine down upon the family.
